Discover How To Detect If Your Training Works
If you exercise regularly but see no changes, these signs will help you understand what works and what doesn't.
Knowing the positive signs of a good workout goes a long way in your fitness progression. If your exercise routine isn't giving you the results you want, you're not seeing visible weight loss results, and you're still feeling the impact of training through aches and pains, then your body may be telling you something.
1. You do not have overloads or pains
You'll like to know that you can get great visible results without feeling like a truck has run over you. Behind the theory of "no pain, no benefits", there is no truth. Of course it is important to listen to your body, especially if you have medical needs, but if you continue to suffer or feel like you are overloaded with your muscles and tendons, this is a warning sign that things are not going well with your training. One reason this occurs is overtraining. Training intensely without taking adequate time to repair your body can lead to muscle damage and decreased performance. However, it does not have to mean that this training is not suitable for you, it may only need some adjustment with the advice of a personal trainer. Our coaches can detect where you are trying too hard or using poor form.
2. You have not stabilized
It has been months since you started this new training and you are still setting new goals. That's because this is the right workout for you. As you become more committed to the same workout, you may feel like you've stuck. This is just because your body, brain and nervous system have adapted to the routine, it does not necessarily mean that you have stuck. Consider increasing the duration or intensity of your workout rather than switching to something completely new.
3. You are still full of energy
If you are that woman or man at the gym who everyone envies and who gives off energy even after the toughest workout, your training is working. Regular exercise generally increases energy levels, not lowers them.
4. You are reaching personal physical goals
If you are still achieving personal goals and are proud of your achievements, then this training is for you. Keep going, don't change anything, as the old saying goes: "if it ain't broke, you don't have to fix it."
5. You maintain good levels of metabolism
The metabolism varies in each person. But one of the best things about workouts is that you can binge on a combination of pasta and pizza three times a week and not suffer any apparent weight gain. If your training isn't giving you the weight loss results you want, consider increasing your performance at a consistent and achievable rate. Don't rush things as this could lead to injury or discouragement. Keep in mind that weight gain can also be muscular - a personal trainer can help you figure this out.
6. You are not procrastinating
The same routine every day can make us feel less motivated. From housework to daily workouts, it makes no difference - if it bores you, do it differently. If you're thinking of tidying up your underwear drawer instead of hitting the gym, then training isn't working for you. Enjoy it, hug it or change it.
