How to set up a safe home gym

The desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle and participate in sports is welcomed, but unfortunately for financial reasons, for shyness or simply to attend classes regularly at the fitness center. The desire to maintain a sporting style often remains unfulfilled due to lack of time. But you can equip your home with a gym! Home equipment work is not limited to the purchase of simulators and sporting goods. In fact, serious work remains in the preparation of the facility. Among other things, the installation of ventilation and lighting systems, the decoration of walls and the laying of floors using materials of related properties. This article is for those who decide to equip Home Gym.

1. What is a safe gym?

A well-ventilated and bright room is required for effective exercise. Ideally spacious (at least 8 m2). It's best to allocate another room for your gym at home. In extreme cases, it is possible to equip a sports zone separated from the living space. Zoning can be done using different colors and textures of lighting, floor coverings, or sliding (possibly stationary) partitions.

2. Lighting and ventilation arrangement recommendations

Apart from that, keep in mind that forced ventilation should be equipped as the load increases heart rate and breathing rate during sports. The body needs more oxygen. Sports are also a kind of hard physical labor. Lack of lighting is psychologically relaxing and easy to adapt to serious physical activity with good lighting. In addition, your gym at home must meet all safety requirements-you need to ensure proper lighting levels when working with sports equipment.

3. Appropriate wall decoration

Do not use plastic on the walls or ceiling of the gym. Plastic coatings are inexpensive, easy to clean, quick to install, and easy to replace damaged elements. However, due to its practicality, Jim's plastic lining and ceiling tiles are definitely not suitable. The point is the airtightness of the material. The formation of condensation on the surface of the plastic panel can stimulate the growth of mold, which is highly undesirable. Color whitewash, cork panels, or pasted paper wallpaper is the best way to finish the gym walls to maintain the optimum microclimate.

4. Flooring selection

When choosing a flooring option, compare your requirements with their characteristics. The gym floor is exposed to heavy stress and heavy objects can fall. Therefore, you should choose a wear-resistant impact-resistant coating. Of course, choose a non-slip coating. Soundproofing is also important, especially when building a gym in a skyscraper. The most democratic option may be to lay a high quality parquet board with the highest strength indicators.

Floating installation on a soundproof board provides the required level of sound insulation. For example, if the gym needs to be changed to a guest, the child or child does not need to change the flooring. You can use high-density carpet, but select a model and investigate its characteristics (ideal for industrial buildings). If you plan to assign "gym" status to the premises for an extended period of time, you can use a special polyurethane coating for the gym with a rubber granulated mat as the flooring.

5. Home gym design

When choosing a gym design option, first remember the functional purpose of the room. The choice of floor, wall and ceiling color schemes is not important-the details are not particularly sophisticated, but choose a combination that is comfortable for the eyes.

According to psychologists, bright saturated shades can cause fatigue and hypersensitivity. Light shades visually expand the space, and dark shades can make a spacious room cozy. Choose a neutral shade (such as light gray or beige) for the wall design, and with some accessories (such as an electronic clock on the wall), you can choose a contrasting saturated bright scarlet or orange color. Sport-themed wall panels and bright posters definitely make a positive impression on the sophisticated design of the home gym. For sports room window designs, concise blinds or roller blinds are more appropriate than luxury curtain sets.

6. Commitment to functionality and comfort

The issue of rational use of free space when arranging sporting goods is especially relevant when installing sports corners in small urban apartments. It's easier to equip a country house with a gym (especially if you have a spacious veranda, you can't find a better place). But in the first and second cases, there must be a rack for sporting goods. You will also need clothes and towel hangers, and a mat for practicing on the floor.

Wall mirrors (preferably fully grown) are an essential attribute of the gym. It allows you to control the correct implementation of posture and exercise. Consider the direction of lighting when deciding where to install the mirror. The wall on the other side of the window is the most unsuccessful placement option because the mirror only shows a dark silhouette against the background of the illuminated window. The gym at home should be clearly visible in a properly illuminated mirror-a photo of this arrangement is shown below.

The choice of equipment in your class depends on your level of physical fitness and financial capacity. You can also equip your gym with your own hands and choose cheaper alternatives to expensive gym equipment (this topic will be discussed later in one of the articles). In either case, it is important to equip the gym to maximize the area of the simulator and not to place it near the wall (minimum allowable distance is 30 cm from the wall).

Building a home gym with your own hands is not easy, but a well-equipped room will be a functional and comfortable place to maintain good health and good physical shape for many years.
